8 Black Owned Coffee Shops You Should Be Supporting

It’s an important time to show our support and appreciation for the Black community and a good way to do this in our daily lives is to put money directly into Black-owned businesses. Supporting with your dollar is a good way to show your community some love!

I encourage you to upgrade from corporate companies like Starbucks and start putting money directly into independent business owners.

Here is a list of 8 local coffee shops that you should be supporting!

1. Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen

Hilltop is truly a gem! this coffee shop has a lively atmosphere, modern aesthetic, and great coffee which is reflected through their high Yelp reviews and loyal customer base. Their menu also includes breakfast, lunch, juices, and pastries. Hilltop has a location in Inglewood, View Park, and another coming soon to Eagle Rock.

2. Sip and Sonder

Sip and Sonder is another great business to support. This coffee shop is located in Inglewood that is community-driven and has great menu options. I recommend you try their rose and honey lavender lattes! Those are some of my favorite. Sip and Sonder is continuously giving back to their community through fundraisers and donations. They’re currently donating free coffee to local healthcare workers in Inglewood. You can support their business and company mission by purchasing from them, donating to their gofundme, or by joining their matching program through their website.

3. Aosa Coffee

Aosa is located in Huntington Beach and it’s another coffee shop worth checking out. They make great coffee, fresh baked goods, and have healthy menu items like acai bowls and avocado toast. How could you resist? They also have super-cute merch that you could buy to show some support!

4. Tribute Coffee

Tribute Coffee is a relaxed and welcoming coffee shop that strives to serve quality coffee, delicious signature drinks, dessert as well as breakfast and lunch. Tribute is located in Garden Grove so make sure to check them out if you’re in the area. “You’re guaranteed to find something you love at Tribute, be it coffee, a sweet treat, or even just friendly conversation”

5. Bloom and Plume

Bloom and Plume is a unique coffee shop and floral design studio located in Echo Park, LA. It is a creative and inclusive space that uplifts you as you walk in. This coffee shop is amazing all around, from their interior design, curated space, friendly staff to all of the delicious menu items they serve. This shop is so lovely, they even include flowers in your drinks and food! They are open 7 days a week from 8 am to 3 pm, so make sure to stop by!

6. Bohemian House of Espresso + Chai

Another good recommendation is Bohemian House of Espresso + Chai , which is located in Downtown LA. This coffee shop has a very modern and lively atmosphere which is filled with lots of natural light and plants. Their drink and menu items are mouthwatering and they have great reviews. Check them out if you haven’t already.

7. Undergrind

Undergrind is a cute and cozy neighborhood coffee shop that serves flavored lattes, breakfast and lunch options. It’s located in LA and is open for take out and delivery!

8. Harun Coffee

Harun Coffee is another great business that you should definitely be supporting. It is a community-driven coffee shop located in Leimert Park, LA . Not only does this shop serve great food and drinks but they also have a clothing line that is displayed both in-store and on their website. They sell a variety of products like graphic tees, quilted pants as well as face masks.
