Nothing Mag Vol. I release recap

July 2nd — marks the first day our magazine was released in print. It was nothing short of exciting. Most of our contributors and members had never appeared on paper before. NothingMag was built without Patreon’s or GoFundMe’s, only dedication to the arts community from our team members.

Laelani, BIG FUN, WEB, and Mazhe, all gave outstanding performances. The show felt like a blend of a backyard college show (I mean that with praise) and an underground niche of the community’s best: Everyone brought with them the love of their craft, like when they first started – minus the anxiety and fear, and beginner’s shakes.

Call it wholesome, or raw. Whatever energy there Saturday night, reminded us why we started NothingMag. We wanted to reflect the subcultures like a mirror, rather than distilling it through layers of interests like money, fame, or click-bait. Now, this isn’t a “we made it speech” — we’ve only just planted our feet — but a thank you speech, like at the end of a PBS broadcast.

Thank you for the support

Thank you for the contributions

Thank you for believing in local art & culture

We hope to see you all at NothingFest IV.

(Don’t be shy, say hi. It’s how we all became a part of the magazine.)
