Reviving the early 2000’s dance sound, High Morale adds a modern edge in their latest EP

An electronic duo consisting of Clay Cornelius and Brandon Hoogenboom collaborate for a fine indie dance album.

Their most unique track, Face to Face, has everything you need from a indie-electronic group: a progressive drum beat, syrupy chords, and catchy vocal track and a thick funk guitar solo to end it.

A personal favorite is the track “Kind Of Lonely,” the lighter female vocals from Kylie Koch could fill a club. The synth pops around in the background, as the verse builds to drop into the chorus. The chorus swells euphorically, urging you swing your arms around, until everyone around you is vibing.

The robotic autotune of “Follow Me Down,” immediately catches the ear as the key hits get you to dance enough to not spill your drink. Each synth layer, is spaced out enough, that they are neither overwhelming nor boring.

Though they are on the softer side of dance music, it would be fun to go to a club that plays these tracks are you groove next to someone in a Dickies and Doc Martins. Definitely put this in your indie summer playlist. Whether you’re getting ready for the club or the beach, you’ll want to play this a couple times over the weekend.
