Indie Bops For Your Summer Playlists

Summer is here and what better way to start off than on a good note with some groovy songs that will make you dance your worries away. Here are some songs that are a great addition to any summer playlist.

1. “You and I”- Jakob Ogawa

Jakob Ogawa is a Norwegian artist that never ceases to make such vibey music with his soft lo-fi vocals, jazzy beats and synth-pop sound. His song “You and I” feels like a good sunny day and it somehow reminds me of glitter and the sun’s warmth. It is a short and sweet song that will have you yearning for more.

2. “Foam”-Divino Niño

This song is one of my favorites from Divino Niño’s sweet rhythmic album Foam. It is a psychedelic song with lighthearted energy that will make you want to dance to the beat. “Foam” has a sense of adventure which makes it a perfect addition to any summer playlist.

3. “Fro”- Luna Luna

“Fro” is a dreamy single by the Texas-based band Luna Luna. This indie-pop track is composed of a sweet melody, jazzy chords and soft vocals that will have you feeling like you’re on cloud 9. So close your eyes while you listen to this song and feel yourself float away into a dreamscape. “Fro” is a perfect addition to any playlist and the type of song you want to enjoy the sunset to.

4. Mamacita- Francisco y Madero

Mamacita is a song from Francisco y Madero’s EP Love Songs For Dating. This band has created a distinct sound by mixing Latin sampledelia with a bit of pop, surf, and psychedelia which can be heard throughout this song. ‘Mamacita’ is low on lyrics but high on energy making it a good song to start off this summer.

5. Sundress- Asap Rocky

Sundress is an upbeat single by Asap Rocky which features Tame Impala’s song “Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind”. This song is a perfect mix of Asap Rocky and Kevin Parker making it a great blend of indie, pop and rap. The thought of summer makes me think of drives by the beach and endless concerts. So I think it is a good moment to bring this song back as it encapsulates all of those feelings.

6. Outer Space- John Maus

‘Outer Space’ is a song from John Maus’s album ‘Addendum’. John Maus is an alternative indie artist who is also known for playing the keyboard for Animal Collective and Panda Bear. He carries out a lo-fi synth-pop sound throughout his music which makes it the perfect vibe for your summer playlist. ‘Outer space’ is a great song to blast during a car ride and will have you feeling like you’re on your way to a space party.
