Still Woozy releases awaited first full length album

Still Woozy most known for his dreamy and danceable singles, has recently released a full length album. Sven Gamsky talks about his writing process and what he’s looking forward to in the upcoming tour:

Still Woozy’s tracks have a lot of ‘easter eggs’ in them, taking found sounds and using them.

“I remember playing a show in, I think in Minneapolis, and the openers were on. I could here the crowd, we were underneath in the green room. It sounded like the floor was going to collapse; I recorded that, and put that in the early songs.”

Gamsky typically works alone, where he started writing songs in his garage. Now he works from a room and had his friend/producer, Lars Stalfors, who came from LA to help him with his tracks.

“[Laughs] My brain is not very organized, and it can be hard for me to get stuff done. So he was basically like the drill sergeant, and he kept me on task.”

“That was the biggest difference, just having him. We’d just like hang out everyday in an AirBnB that was just filled with instruments. And just talk for like hours and process. It’s so important to process with people, you know? It’s like when you’re only you’re just in this fishbowl.”

Stalfors has helped other artists like Cuco, Cold War Kids, and The Marías to name a few of his long list of credits.

Announcing an international tour [ September 21st at The Novo and January 16th The Pomona Fox Theater ] Gamsky can’t wait to step out in front of a crowd.

“I’m looking forward to like these songs that were hashed in, away from everyone just by myself. I want to bring them to people. I want to see people react to it, and I’m curious to see songs and moments in songs that people respond to the most. Cause you can write it, and people interpret it in these others ways. When you see it live, you see some moments are like; this is, for some reason, people has responded to this one lyric or this one line. So I’m excited to see that.”
