REVIEW: To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You

Netflix has released the sequel to “To All the Boys that I Loved Before”. I was honestly very excited when they announced that a sequel was going to be produced because I thought that the first movie was very cute. It even made me want to go back to my high school years.

The first movie, in my opinion, was very successful. Well, it’s not like the best movie I have ever seen, but for the audience that they were targeting, I consider it a well made film. The plot is not so different from what we all are used to, the popular kid falls for the not so popular kid, but I still liked how the story unfolded.

I wish I could say the same good things about the second movie, but I must not tell lies. I didn’t have high expectations or thought that I was going to watch an incredible, unique piece of art, but I was very disappointed with the sequel. Well, there’s a reason why Rom-Coms usually don’t have sequels. I know these movies are based on books, and that’s mainly the reason why they made sequel; however, the second movie, in my opinion, was just dragging the story throughout the whole movie. For most of the film, I was very annoyed with the main character Lara Jean. Her character lost so much individualism and identity. It almost seemed that her character had maturely regressed. I was also very sad that they didn’t explore much of her mom’s story which was way more present in the first movie. I didn’t hate the movie but I also didn’t love it. I don’t know if I would recommend it to anyone but if you really like Rom-Coms go for it.
