Best Bean & Cheese Burrito In Orange County: Pedro’s Tacos

Like many other native Californians, I grew up eating delicious, authentic Mexican food. From street tacos from Santa Ana to freshly baked pan dulce from the local panaderias (bakeries). Over the past couple of years I have been keeping an eye out for the best bean and cheese burrito, and I may have found the one. Although I haven’t been religiously on the search, I’ve had tried a good number of places and hands down, Pedro’s Tacos serves the best bean and cheese burritos.

I first had Pedro’s Tacos about four years ago. My friends and I had just finished band rehearsal and one of them offered to buy all of us bean and cheese burritos. At first, I was skeptical since I was a picky eater and had never had a  bean and cheese burrito and thought it would just be bland, gloppy beans poorly wrapped in a mediocre flour tortilla. I couldn’t be more wrong. When my friend came back from picking up the food, he handed each one of us our orders. I unwrapped the foil and took the first bite. Immediately I was impressed by the soft, warm tortilla that tasted just like it had been made that morning. The beans and cheese blended so well with the added potatoes, and the burrito was wrapped nice and snug, unlike some burritos from others restaurants that have no stable shape and just fall apart on your plate.

Ever since then, Pedro’s Tacos has been my go-to place for a quick bite in San Clemente, and I always pay extra for the added potatoes. If bean and cheese burritos aren’t your favorite you can also try the other tasty items on the menu like their carne asada street tacos, fish tacos, breakfast burritos, quesadillas, and of course ice cold Horchata.

If find yourself wanting to try out the flavorful food of Pedro’s Tacos, take the 5 freeway towards San Clemente, and take the exit on Avenida Palizada, and turn right on El Camino Real. Ahead you’ll see palm trees lined down the street leading to the charming, little, teal drive-thru. For quick service, I recommend you order at the drive-thru. I also strongly recommend getting an iced cold Horchata to pair with your burrito. After all, it’s the best drink to pair with Mexican food.
