NothingMag.TV and These Pilgrims Present… These Pilgrims Carnival.

It’s been close to 5 months since Nothing Mag’s inception and we have yet to formally introduce who or rather what Nothing Mag is. In short, we are adventure seekers hoping to take you on a quest to find some of the most talented creatives, wonderful music, and events around (a more extensive What Is Nothing write-up coming soon, promise.) With that being said, I’m excited to announce a stellar collaboration we have been cooking up with These Pilgrims.

A little backstory first… One of the first major events Nothing Mag covered was Vestal Village 2018, one of Coachella’s most exclusive campgrounds and parties nestled at the base of a scenic lake. If you’re interested, check out my Vestal Village Post-Show Thoughts here. It was that weekend where I personally discovered who These Pilgrims were — and believe me when I say that they were a breath of fresh air. At first listen, I could hear their pure and genuine love for the music they were performing, it was this that made me all the more intrigued.

We kept in touch with the self-proclaimed psych-folk-rock group, and it was maybe a few days after meeting them that they publicly announced their debut self-titled album, These Pilgrims, had been in the works. You can only imagine how stoked their fans were to hear the news. Not only are they stoked for the album itself, but because with an album comes an album release show, right? Yes! These Pilgrims want the album release and coinciding party to be an experience. For several months now, we’ve been working with the band to create a major album release show that they have come to refer to as These Pilgrims Carnival. Check out their double, Oudyahed and Better Wine, they released last week to give a sneak peak of their new album. Stay tuned for a live session we filmed with them last month.

The line up alone is kickass. The Bash Dogs are a group that have made a major name for themselves in Orange County. Selling out venues all over the O.C., including the legendary Wayfarer in Costa Mesa. The Bash Dogs are a prime example of a band who not only writes, produces, but also executes masterfully. The band creates some of the rawest psych surf jams. Their heavy riffs combined with their sweet surf rock elements will make almost anyone become an instant fan. Check out this rad video of their release show at The Wayfarer a few months back. It serves as a great representation of how awesome their set will be at These Pilgrims Carnival. Anyone who has gone to a Bash Dogs show will attest to the fact that it’s a party!

Next up, a band conceived out of the fires of pure and utter punk– Storm House. This 4-piece band has made their name known both in the OC and LA tearing the stage up like no other and it’s comprised of some of the most talented musicians and personal friends of mine. Led by powerhouse Markie Shear, the band has been dubbed horror punk due to its punk rock sounds and horror/sci-fi imagery. Killing it on the drums is Santa Ana’s own, Isaac Larios. Not only has Isaac captured some of the greatest musicians around as a freelance photographer, but he’s a musician himself– a drummer extraordinaire! In fact, I’ve featured both Markie and Isaac on my personal blog, Corduroy Soul. Check out my conversation with Markie here and Isaac’s here. Noel Becerra shreds on the guitar and Ozzy Chong not only kills on bass but also has a band of his own, The Kid Chocolate Band.

Storm House is, without a doubt, going to leave their footprint on the Locker Room stage. I’m not only excited to see them perform as a friend of theirs, but especially as a fan of Storm House. (Pst, keep your eyes on Nothing Mag for an exclusive live session with Storm House also coming soon!) The Lanitarians, This Uni, and Wicklow Atwater will also make their presence known at These Pilgrims Carnival— Killing it only how they know how.

These Pilgrims Carnival is going down September 7th, 2018 at the Garden Amp in Garden Grove, CA– 2 stages, carnival games, prizes, a petting zoo, live vinyl DJs, and all the cotton candy your heart desires. It’ll be an all-ages show, so get your tickets while they’re hot over at GardenAmp.com. If you want to find out more about Nothing Mag, you know we’ll definitely be there.
