Meshuggah bring their Immutable tour to Riverside, CA.
Meshuggah are joined by Torche and In Flames for the next leg of the tour. After Torche announced their final shows for the foreseeable future, this was a perfect excuse for everyone to come early and fill up the Riverside Auditorium. Torche came out with a punch, delivered a hard-hitting 30 minutes of metal that warmed the crowd up for In Flames.
In Flames played a little bit of everything from their discography, such as fan favorites as “Only for the Weak“ and “I Am Above,” as they lead up to their upcoming album in February. The energy intensified as the night progressed with endless head banging and horns being thrown.
Meshuggah came out to a red, dimly lit stage. The song “Broken Cog“ delivers a riff so heavy you feel it travel throughout your body, which is accompanied by Jen’s vocals are spoken in a haunting tone. A light show matched the guitar riffs while creating an atmosphere so dark and dreary, yet so beautiful.
The stage was filled with lights and strobes that helped elevate Meshuggah’s songs to a whole new level. It made you feel as if you were transported to another dimension.
Playing songs from across their entire discography with the majority of songs in support of their newly released album “Immutable.” Just when you thought you had time to breath and not see flashing red, “Demiurge“ and “Future Breed Machine” were played for the encore. Not only are these some fan favorites, but these songs hit harder than a punch to gut.
If you are familiar with Meshuggah, then you know you are in for a good time; and if you don’t, I suggest you check them out because they are not your typical metal band. Rather something more technical, structured, and complex.
