Downtown Santa Ana is full of hidden gems, one of those being Beatnik Bandito Music Emporium, a small record store off Broadway and 5th street. If classic rock and 80’s alternative records are what you’re looking for, then this will definitely be the place for you, as they have a plethora of these records. They also have funk, pop, hip hop, and oldies on vinyl and cassette tape.
What makes Beatnik Bandito stand out from the other record stores are the vintage clothes and guitars for sale. When you first walk in you might find yourself checking out the leather jackets and dad shirts before looking through the records.
Beatnik Bandito is also known for supporting the local music scene by providing a place for all-ages shows, art shows, and open mics. The first show I ever played was at Beatnik, and ever since then I have gone back there many times to check out their record collection, watch locals bands play, and perform there myself. For that reason, Beatnik Bandito holds a special place in my heart.
