If you’re looking for a new show to keep you on your toes and add a touch of paranoia during your time of social distancing, Devs on Hulu may be the one to start watching NOW. That is only if you’re ready for a terrifying, sci-fi thriller that will make you think deeply about any tech conspiracy that could really be happening in the world right now. If you loved movies Ex Machina and Annihilation, writer and director Alex Garland does what he does best in this suspenseful-paced, mind-bending TV mini-series.
The series stars Ex Machina’s Sonoyo Mizuno who plays a software engineer named Lily Chan. She and her boyfriend, Sergei, work at a cutting-edge tech company in Silicon Valley called Amaya. Amaya is run by CEO, Forrest, played by Parks and Rec’s Ron Swanson… I mean Nick Offerman.
The story takes a turn of events when Sergei suddenly goes missing after he starts a new position at Devs, a secret development division at Amaya. As Lily suspects foul play, she begins to unfold dark secrets about Sergei and Amaya.
I’m calling Devs “Stranger Things For Adults.”
